WHAT FOODS TO EAT TO GROW YOUR HAIR

So much of what I advocate about revolves around eating a well-balanced plant-based diet. Now before you head to the comments and light this post up like a christmas tree, hear me out.

What I have learned is everyone has a journey of their own. Every diet regardless of how you eat should be balanced and consist of the minimum requirements for fruit and vegetable intake. Especially if you’re a natural curly head that’s tired of short stagnant hair.

How I transitioned my hair lead to transitioning my way of eating. They go hand and hand. Foods I eat are in abundance each day. You don’t have to eat like me, (although…holla at your girl if you want to) but I encourage you to experiment and increase your vegetable and fruit intake.

Why fruits and greens should be in your diet for hair growth.

1. So let me dive in. There are over hundreds if not thousands of dark green leafy vegetables, such as kale, collards, swiss chard, callaloo (Jamaican spinach), and bok choy that are full of mind-blowing nutrients. Some of those ingredients include but aren’t limited to vitamin C, folate, iron and so much more.

2. Other vegetables like leafy greens are good-for-you and also are full of antioxidants and elements that combat free-radicals. They all work together for a healthy scalp and to keep your hair moisturized versus dull and dry.

3. I’ve found that fruits, especially tropical fruits are the best choice for cleaning out your body. One cup of juice from most fruits have two to three times the minimum daily recommended value for our bodies.

Fruits in rare form are known to excite different glands in your body to protect your scalp and cover your strands from roots to ends.

4. Herbs, Spices, Seeds oh my! Sprinkle them on everything you eat. From oregano on spaghetti, to cinnamon on oatmeal.

There’s no better way to bring rich oxygen to your scalp than to add some spice to your dishes. The herbs and spices I put on my plate help with blood flow also known as circulation.

With this, you know your hair is benefiting from a number of nutrients and minerals yielding luscious, longer hair that’s healthier than before.

So go ahead and up your food game and grab some fruits and veggies at your local farmers market!
