Don’t Deny Denim

I am quickly approaching my mid 30’s and I’ve been leaning more towards a quick yet simple 90’s vintage style. Being a working wife, mom, and student I’m always on the go.

My scrubs would be ideal for everyday life but that’s not possible. So trying to find my true style has been a work in progress, but a recent shopping splurge at Forever 21, Macy’s, and Old Navy gave me an idea of the simplicity I envision.

This comfortable & classic chambray shirt screams simplicity to me. The basic collar, pleated back, and front buttons are what I love most about this top, not to mention it can be paired with an assortment of bottoms.

I’ve dressed it down a few times with leggings layered with an open front ribbed cardigan. This time I spiced it up a little adding a Satin-Trim Wool Fedora hat from Forever 21. I chose this and black Petite Skinny jeans from Macy’s because of the chic classic feel of the shirt.

I’m 5 foot 1¼ inches and don’t be fooled, like Shakira my tiny hips don’t lie; so I like my jeans to be a certain fit. Honestly, the times I’ve gone elsewhere I’ve found that the jeans fit but the waist is too big so I have to wear a belt with every outfit.

Or worse the skinny jeans don‘t have enough cotton and they’re too skinny and make me look like a zipper if I turn sideways and stick my tongue out. You may laugh but it’s true!

Lastly, to complete the look I added a pair of leopard flats, a basic necklace, and Tory Burch earrings to add depth to my outfit while keeping it simple and classic.

So whether you’re the tall luscious sistah or the teenie weenie banana of the bunch you’re sure to love this outfit for the winter season.

With love,
