Unfortunately, it can sometimes get confusing and overwhelming looking for the best curl defining tips on the world wide web.

So I’m sure you’re waiting for me to tell you what this mud or clay does in detail. Of course, why else would you be here!? Bentonite clay is:
- An all-natural ingredient that comes directly from the earth.
- Its main purpose is to attract products that are built up on the scalp, by pulling any toxins, and impurities out, and leaving a clarified clean scalp.
- Bentonite clay stimulates the circulation of blood flow in the scalp, which helps in retention and hair growth.
- Bentonite clay is wonderful for those suffering from severe eczema or other skin conditions.
- This clay also helps to define curls, control frizz and adds shine back into lovely curls.
Ok, now that I have your attention let’s talk about how to make this mask. *Disclaimer DO NOT USE METAL when handling Bentonite clay, due to it’s anionic charged properties.*
How to make Bentonite clay hair mask:
- Purchase your clay online, in a local health store, or at most markets.
- In a plastic, ceramic, or wooden bowl combine 2 parts spring water and 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar (don’t like ACV see step 4).
- With a wooden, plastic, or ceramic spoon add clay powder to water/ACV mix to create your hair mask. Along with a carrier oil like coconut oil or almond oil. Allow the mix to foam for 10 seconds then mix-should have the consistency of yogurt.
- Add 2-4 drops of your favorite essential oils.
- Separate hair in 4 sections and apply clay mask throughout mostly damp hair. Apply as you would a relaxer. This hair mask is safe on color treated hair.
- Cover hair for no more than 15 minutes with a grocery plastic bag or hair cap this helps prevent the clay from drying and getting stiff on hair.
- If there’s any clay left over it works just as good on your skin to pull out toxins and impurities.
- Shampoo and remove all clay hair mask from your scalp. Follow up with a deep conditioner to balance hair and to prevent from drying out.
- Run water for an additional minute to ensure all clay has fully washed down the drain.
- Apply your favorite leave-in conditioner and style away.
How often should you hair mask:
- When signs of hair damage or breakage are visibly noticed. Not to be confused with protein treatments. May also need to follow up with hair trim after mask cleanse.
- When hair is dry or brittle.
- When the scalp is flaky or has product build up.
- Every other week to once a month to pull pollutants from the environment out of hair.
